On 29 May 2026, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai received a courtesy visit from Puan Siti Hawa and Puan Nurin of the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia.
During the meeting, the Consulate was briefed on ITC’s mandate to promote Islamic tourism and drive the growth of this sector in Malaysia. The delegation also outlined ITC’s role in guiding industry players to better serve the Muslim tourist market. They further shared details on ITC’s recognition programmes, including the Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality Assurance Recognition (MFAR) and the Muslim-Friendly Tourist Guide (MFTG).
