On 30 April 2026, Consul General Mr. Mohd. Shahafeez Shaharis attended the naming ceremony for two new Petronas LNG carriers at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.
The vessels were officially named Puteri Johor and Puteri Kedah by Lady Sponsor of the Ships, Ms. Shariah Nelly Francis, wife of the Vice President of Petronas LNG Marketing & Trading, Mr. Shamsairi M Ibrahim. The ceremony was also attended by Petronas staff, as well as representatives from Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd (K-Line) and the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
These vessels will serve Petronas’ long-term LNG delivery commitments to Shanghai to meet China's growing demand, aligning with Petronas' ongoing efforts to position itself as a reliable, long-term liquefied natural gas partner to China.
