2 December 2024 - The Consul General of Malaysia in Xi’an received a courtesy visit from Mr. Steven Liaw Chee Kok, the Executive Vice President of the Sabah Malaysia-China Friendship Association (SMCFA). Founded on December 12, 2012, with approval from Malaysia's governmental organization registration authority, the SMCFA acts as a platform created by local youth from various ethnicities who share a common vision for fostering greater exchange between Sabah—known for its diverse cultures and rich resources—and different regions across China.
The primary goals of the SMCFA are to facilitate and strengthen the friendship between Malaysia and China, providing mutual benefits to both nations. The association also aims to promote commerce, education, and cultural communication between the two countries, helping Sabahans establish a presence in the emerging Chinese market while attracting Chinese enterprises for investment and trade in Sabah. Ultimately, the SMCFA is dedicated to enhancing ties between the peoples of Malaysia and China, fostering bilateral cooperation to achieve win-win outcomes.
