Malaysia participated as the Guest Country of Honour in the 3rd Silk Road International Exposition (SRIE) and the Investment & Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China (ITFCEW) in Shaanxi Province from 11 to 15 May 2018. It was the first time that the country has been given the honour of becoming the Guest Country of Honour in the annual Expo.
The Malaysian delegation, comprising 14 government officials, 24 business representatives from the Malaysia-China Business Chamber (MCBC), National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) and over 100 representatives from 40 Malaysian companies, was led by YBhg. Dato’ Isham Ishak, Deputy Secretary General (Trade) of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
Malaysia was also given the honour to co-organize the China (Shaanxi) – Malaysia Business Forum as one of the concurrent events coordinated by MIDA on 11 May 2018. The Forum, attended by over 300 Chinese local government officials and businessmen, was aimed atmatching the business opportunities that Malaysia has to offer, both as an investment destination and as a business gateway to the ASEAN region with the needs of the local business enterprises.
