UM Philanthropic Financing Symposium Held in Xi’an and Lanzhou

The University of Malaya (UM) successfully held the Philanthropic Financing Symposium on November 17 in Xi'an and November 19 in Lanzhou. This event was organized by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Xi'an and aimed to enhance understanding of social financing and philanthropy in higher education while promoting cooperation between Malaysia and China in academic exchanges and social development.

As Malaysia's oldest and top-ranked public university, UM focuses on fostering inclusive growth and international engagement through its philanthropic initiative, UM Giving. The symposium featured remarks from Consul General Mr. Lum Wan Liang, who emphasized Malaysia's commitment to regional higher education cooperation. Dr. Azni Zarina Taha, Executive Director of UM Giving, highlighted the significance of philanthropic financing in empowering students and ensuring the sustainability of education. The symposium aimed to build sustainable financial ecosystems through philanthropy and partnerships, bringing together experts and donors to discuss innovative approaches to educational philanthropy and to acknowledge their contributions.
