YB Tuan Tan Kok Wai, Malaysia Special Envoy to The People’s Republic of China and Chairman of Malaysia-China Business Council conducted a working visit to Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, People’s Republic of China from 8-11 December 2018.
YB Tuan Tan Kok Wai and delegation attended the “Global Chinatown Gathering in Chang’an – the Collection of Cultural, Commercial and Tourism Activities at Home and Abroad”, which was held on 10 to 11 December in Xi’an. The event was co-hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government, Shaanxi Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Xi'an Municipal Government.
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Xi’an Sub-council and the MCBC jointly organised a Malaysia-China Bilateral Trade and Investment Forum on 9 December 2018. The event was attended by 120 attendees comprising heads of relevant departments of Xi'an municipality, districts, development zones officials as well as representatives of local business chamber and enterprises in Xi’an as well as 30 Malaysian delegates.
The Special Envoy also met with Mr. Xue Hua, Chairman of CCPIT Shaanxi Sub-council, which is the counterpart agency for MCBC at the provincial level. Amongst areas discussed by the two business councils include further cooperation in trade, commerce, education, agriculture, logistics, innovative technology and tourism.
The Malaysian delegation also toured the China (Shaanxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone - Xi’an International Trade and Logistic Park and the Baqiao District.
