The Coordination Council of Muslims in Germany (KRM) sends its best wishes to Muslims in Germany at the beginning of Ramadan.  The blessed month of Ramadan begins on Thursday, February 19, 2026, and ends on March 19, 2026. Ramadan is a time for inner reflection, spiritual strengthening, and a more conscious turning towards Allah. The month of fasting, which begins almost simultaneously with the Christian season of Lent, offers the opportunity to slow down daily life, re-evaluate priorities, and deepen one's faith.  “Ramadan is a time of orientation for us, a time to examine ourselves personally and as a community and to develop further. It reminds us that responsibility, consideration and solidarity are central elements of our coexistence – values that should be self-evident, but often are not,” explains Ali Mete, spokesperson for the Coordination Council of Muslims in Germany.  In Islam, fasting is not just about abstinence, but about taking a stand. It sharpens awareness of moderation, patience, and the needs of others. Worldwide, as well as here in Germany, many people face social and economic challenges. The month of fasting calls on us not to look away, but to actively help – through donations, commitment, and by demonstrating compassion in our daily lives.  Ramadan is also a month of closeness – within families, communities, and society. Breaking the fast together, prayers, and conversations foster cohesion and mutual understanding.  KRM spokesman Ali Mete makes it clear: “It is our responsibility to live solidarity and compassion in everyday life. Every contribution, be it through commitment, support or attention, strengthens the community and promotes cohesion.”
