On 4 April 2016, a group of 6 ASEAN Ambassadors and representatives from ASEAN embassies undertook a working visit to the Schönefeld Municipality. The group was joined by Ambassador of Mongolia H.E. Tsolmon Bolor, whose country is involved in twon city program with the Schönefeld Municipality. The visit began with a call on the Mayor of Schönefeld, Dr. Udo Haase and the signing of the Golden Book at the Schönefeld City Hall. After a brief greeting and discussion, the group proceeded to the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, where representatives from Berlin Brandenburg Flughafen GmbH (BBF) briefed the delegation on the progress and gave clarification on some misreportings on the project by the media. The group was also taken for a tour around the main terminal of the airport.
The visit continued in Wildau, where a meeting between the members of the Berlin ASEAN Committee (BAC) and Brandenburg Water Academy took place. During the meeting, presentations were made by members of the academy, which emphasized on the objectives and works undertaken by the Academy.
The visit attracted the attention of local media. An interview with Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E. Dato’ Zulkifli Adnan, who is also the Chair of the BAC, was aired on a local television network that evening and also published by Märkische Zeitung on 5 April 2016.
