On 2 December 2016, H.E. Ambassador participated in a Berlin ASEAN Committee (BAC). Held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Myanmar, the meeting was part of the activities under Myanmar’s Chairmanship of the BAC. The meeting discussed preparations for upcoming BAC activities under Myanmar’s Chairmanship, which will run until January 2017, but above that it was held to begin serious deliberation on activities planned for ASEAN’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2017.
Following the end of the meeting, BAC members welcomed H.E. Omar Zniber, Ambassador of Morocco, who presented a briefing on the outcome of the then recently-concluded 22nd session of parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22), which took place in Marrakech on 8-17 November 2017. BAC members also took the opportunity to exchange views on how recent developments in the international stage would shape the future of climate change diplomacy.
