Amongst the various roles played, Malaysian embassies promotes Malaysian interests and acts as a gateway to Malaysia abroad. In achieving these objectives, the Embassy supports initiatives to promote Malaysia abroad in various sectors. As part of an effort to promote the Malaysian tourism industry, the Embassy of Malaysia was once again part of the Internationale Tourismus Börse (ITB) in 2016.
To kick start the week-long programme, a briefing session for the Malaysian delegation was held at the Embassy complex on 8 March 2016. H.E. Dato’ Zulkifli Adnan, during his brief welcoming remarks, reiterated the Embassy's commitment to help boost the number of German tourist in Malaysia.
The session was followed by a remark by Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, who briefed the delegation on the programme of the ITB and updated participants on the tourism industry landscape in Malaysia. Delegates also listened to a presentation on the tourism industry climate in Germany by Mr. José Ramirez-Santoyo, Marketing Manager at Tourism Malaysia Frankfurt.
