The Embassy welcomed the students of SMK Infant Jesus Convent Johor Bahru who returned to Berlin for the second student exchange programme with the Franzosiches Schule Berlin (French School of Berlin). Throughout their week-long programme, the students had experienced the German culture and were able to sample school life in Germany. They also learned about the country and more importantly, made new friends from across the globe. In her welcoming remarks, Ambassador-designate Sarah Al Bakri Devadason underscored the importance of mutual respect for each other’s diversity through the interactions and friendships built arising from the exchange programme.
The exchange of visits of students between the two schools is a primary example that will contribute towards enhancing people-to-people ties at all levels through the promotion of cooperation in education, culture, education, tourism and sports. A Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing mutual respect and understanding among peoples was signed by the schools’ representatives witnessed by Ambassador-designate Sarah.
