International Tourism Exchange (ITB) 2011, Berlin, Germany

Malaysia, through the Ministry of Tourism and the tourism industry players (State Tourism offices, Hotel and Resorts, and Travel & Tour Operators) once again successfully showcased Malaysia to the world during the ITB Fair in Berlin that was held from 9 to 13 March 2011. The Malaysian booth was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Azizan Noordin, the Acting Director General Tourism Malaysia and H.E Dato’ Ibrahim Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Germany followed by a press conference. The visitors to the fair were entertained to cultural performances by the Johore State Heritage Foundation, music from the traditional instrument “sape”, promotion of crafted “mengkuang” products, ‘Nyonya’ embroidery handicraft and painting demonstration by Adino Bidin Kamarudin. 
In conjunction with the ITB, Malaysia also hosted a gala dinner “Malaysia in Berlin, Evening” at Ritz Carlton Hotel. The invitees to the event were entertained and provided with glimpses of Malaysia’s diversity through the cultural performances and the food that was served. The cultural troupe also performed a program in Hamburg as part of their promotion effort in reaching a wider German audience. 
            Meanwhile, the Embassy hosted and informal thank you lunch on 13th March 2011 at the Atrium of the Embassy as a token of appreciation for their hard work in promoting Malaysia to the world, in conjunction with ITB, Germany.
