The 9th World Congress of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) convened in Berlin from 19 to 23 June 2015. The World Congress is an annual congregation of experts in rehabilitation medicine from around the world which showcase scientific breakthrough and quality educational material related to rehabilitation practice. The 9th World Congress, co-hosted by Austria and Germany, saw the presence of some 2700 participants from 105 countries and deliberated on over 2000 research papers on related fields.
Dato’ Dr. Zaliha Omar, President of the Malaysian Association of Rehabilitation Physicians and leader of the Malaysian delegation to the Congress, was formally handed the Presidency of the 10th ISPRM World Congress during the closing ceremony yesterday.
Speaking during the ceremony, H.E. Dato’ Zulkifli Adnan, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany, highlighted the emphasis that the Government of Malaysia is giving towards empowering persons with disabilities under the recently launched 11th Malaysia Plan (2016 – 2020) by the honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia.
The 10th ISPRM World Congress is scheduled to be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 29 May to 2 June 2016.
