Entering the second half of 2016, it is time for Malaysia to hand over the chairmanship of the Berlin ASEAN Committee (BAC) to the next Chair, Myanmar. The handing over took place during a BAC meeting at the Embassy of Malaysia on 21 July 2016. Present at the meeting were 8 Ambassadors, representatives as well as officials from ASEAN embassies. Before the chairmanship was officially transferred to Myanmar, the Committee noted and adopted the report on BAC activities undertaken through Malaysia’s Chairmanship (January – July 2016) and had some discussions on upcoming BAC activities.
As a symbolic gesture, the outgoing Chair, H.E. Dato’ Zulkifli Adnan presented the ASEAN Flag to the new BAC Chair, H.E. Daw Yin Yin Myint. H.E. Dato’ Zulkifli Adnan also thanked members of the Committee for the support and cooperation extended throughout Malaysia’s Chairmanship. The Committee also noted Myanmar’s draft programme of its Chairmanship for the period of July – December 2016.
