Working Visit by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Electoral Process, to Federal Republic of Germany

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Electoral Process, led by YB Dato’ Sri Panglima Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Science and Technology, visited Berlin from the 24-26 of February 2012. The Committee - 8 Parliamentarians and representatives from the Election Commission Malaysia, Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Registration Department – was on a working visit to a few European countries to look at their respective election process and procedures. Prior to Berlin, the Committee had also visited Frankfurt and had discussions with Mr. Norbert Kartmann, President of Hessian Landtag (Hesse State Parliament) and Ms. Karina Schorn, Head of Department, Federal Statistics Department.

 

In Berlin, the Committee met with representatives from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) at the CDU Headquarters and with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). The Committee also took the opportunity to visit the office of the Federal Chancellery.
