DINNER IN HONOUR OF THE DELEGATION OF THE FIRST MALAYSIA-FRANCE JOINT COMMITTEE MEETING ON PALM OIL COOPERATION AND SCREENING OF DOCUMENTARY ENTITLED ‘SEEDS OF CHANGE AND PALM OIL’S ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MALAYSIA’
DÎNER ET AVANT-PREMIÈRE DU DOCUMENTAIRE FRANÇAIS:
“LES GRAINES DU CHANGEMENT: LE RÔLE DE L’HUILE DE PALME DANS LE DÉVELOPPEMENT DE LA MALAISIE”
The Ambassador of Malaysia to France, His Excellency Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal, hosted a dinner in honour of the delegation of the First Malaysia-France Joint Committee Meeting on Palm Oil Cooperation at the Shangri-La Hotel on Thursday, 21 March 2013. At the dinner too, a documentary in French language entitled “Seed of Change: Palm Oil’s Role in the Development of Malaysia” was shown to the invitees.
Present at the dinner were YBhg. Datin Paduka Nurmala Abdul Rahim, Secretary General of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) and head of the Malaysian delegation; YBhg. Tan Sri Dr Yusof Basiron, Chairman of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC); YBhg. Datuk Dr. Choo Yuen May, Director-General of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB); Heads of Agencies in Paris as well as other officials from MPIC, MPOB and MPOC. More than one hundred forty guests attended the function, among them were the members of the diplomatic corps, French members of National Assembly and senators, French food industry players, corporate guests, researchers, as well as media representatives.
The screening of the documentary on the palm oil plantation and industry in Sabah was timely amidst the current negative campaigning in France. This documentary will subsequently be aired on a French television channel. The broadcast of the said documentary is expected to create the awareness among the Francophone audience in France and in the EU in general and to convey the correct information on palm oil.

L’Ambassadeur de Malaisie en France, Son Excellence Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal, a organisé un dîner au nom du Malaysian Palm Oil Council (Conseil malaisien de l’huile de palme) à l’hôtel Shangri-la le jeudi 21 mars 2013. Durant le dîner, un documentaire d’une chaîne de télévision française intitulé “Les graines du changement: le rôle de l’huile de palme dans le développement de la Malaisie’’ a été projeté aux invités français et internationaux.
Étaient présents à ce dîner: YB Datin Paduka Nurmala Abdul Rahim, Secrétaire-générale du Ministère de l’Industrie des Plantations et des Matières Premières, Tan Sri Dr Yusof Basiron, Président du Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), Datuk Sam Mannan, Directeur des Forêts de Sabah, les responsables des agences malaisiennes basées à Paris, du Ministère de l’Industrie des Plantations et des Matières Premières et du MPOC. Plus de cent quarante invités ont assisté à cet événement, dont des membres du corps diplomatique, dirigeants politiques, parlementaires, cadres d’entreprise, chercheurs, universitaires et journalistes.
Le documentaire sur l’industrie des plantations d’huile de palme à Sabah a pour but de contrecarrer la campagne anti-huile de palme en France, en rappelant quelques faits sur l’huile de palme. La diffusion de ce dernier permettra au public français et francophone, et notamment les politiques, d’être mieux informé sur l’huile de palme.
