PASTRY DEMONSTRATION BY PASTRY ALLIANCE OF MALAYSIA - 27 JANUARY 2011

 Tourism Malaysia Paris in collaboration with the Perwakilan Ladies Paris and Malaysian Association of France (MAF) organized a cooking demonstration by the team from Pastry Alliance of Malaysia on Thursday, 27 January 2011.

 

2.  The pastry demonstration, launched by Puan Sri Rositah Md. Mawi, wife of the Ambassador of Malaysia, was attended by 30 guests including Madam Lim Boon Sang, wife of the Ambassador of Singapore; Madam Bouakheva Phalivong, wife of the Ambassador of Laos; Mrs. Ery Yuwono, wife of the Chargé d’Affaires of Indonesia and members of Perwakilan Paris and MAF.

 

3.  The chefs from Pastry Alliance of Malaysia were in France to participate in the World Pastry Cup Competition held on January 23 and 24, 2011 at the SIRHA exhibition fair in Lyon. The team had clinched the Second runner up at the 3rd Asian Pastry Cup and bagged the ‘Best Plated Dessert’ award at the competition.  

 

 

4.    During the pastry demonstration, the Malaysian chefs shared with guests the secret of their winning recipes and presented two of their delectable desserts  namely ‘Yoghurt mousse with hazelnut crisp’ and ‘Chocolate mousse with caramelized banana’. Other than their pastry skills, the Chefs also showed their culinary skills by preparing a set of gourmet dish consisting of ‘Cured star grouper roll’, ‘Spinach gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce’, ‘Buffala mozarella and tomato salad’ and ‘Grilled marinated lamb rack’ to the delight of all the guests. 

 

5.  While in Paris, the Malaysian Chefs was also invited by Le Cordon Bleu school, French prestigious cooking school, to prepare a sugar showpiece and chocolate exclusively for Le Cordon Bleu Paris students.   Le Cordon Bleu had signed an agreement with Sunway University Malaysia to develop the culinary, hotel and restaurant management programs at the University.  

 

7. The Pastry World Cup was created in 1989 to promote dynamism and creativity in the field of pastry, as well as to recognize young talents worldwide in the art of pastry. This year, 19 countries participate in the World Cup Championship: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, China, Colombia, South Korea, Spain, United States, Japan, Malaysia , Morocco, Mexico, United Kingdom, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Tunisia and Uruguay.
