The 15th Meeting of the ASEAN-China Joint Cooperation Committee was held on 25 March 2014 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Suvat Chirapant, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN and H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Ambassador of the Chinese Mission to ASEAN.
The Meeting reviewed the progress of ASEAN-China cooperation in the past year, particularly the implementation of the ASEAN-China Plan of Action 2011-2015, follow-up actions on the decisions and proposals made by the Leaders at the 16th ASEAN-China Summit in October 2013 in Brunei Darussalam, and status of ASEAN-China projects and activities.
During the Meeting, both ASEAN and China exchanged views on ways and means to move forward ASEAN-China cooperation on three pillars namely political-security, economic and socio-cultural. The Meeting also discussed a number of other important issues such as the implementation of ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year 2014 and the preparation for the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference Session with China in August 2014.
