2/2011 MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES TO ASEAN

The 2/2011 Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) was held on 14 January 2011 in Lombok, Indonesia. The Meeting was chaired by Indonesia’s Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Ambassador Ngurah Swajaya.  Malaysia’s Permanent Representative, Dato’ Hsu King Bee, led the Malaysia Delegation.  She was accompanied by the Deputy Permanent Representative, Ms. Zanariah Zainal Abidin.

 

The Meeting discussed preparations related to the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat and Special Meeting of the ASEAN Coordinating Council, ASEAN community building, ASEAN external relations, operations of the ASEAN Secretariat, Work Plan of the CPR for 2011, preparations for the 18th ASEAN Summit in May 2011, Calendar of the CPR and Related Meetings and ASEAN Notional Calendar for 2011.  In essence, the Meeting took stock of the status of issues and discussed the way to move forward.  The Meeting also noted the Chair’s Summary Record of the 2/2011 CPR Working Group Meeting held the day before.

 

While in Lombok, the CPR made a courtesy call on the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Province, K.H. M. Zainul Majdi.  The Governor briefed the CPR on developments in Lombok and measures undertaken to promote economic development and wellbeing of the people.  The Governor expressed pleasure at being able to meet with the CPR and the opportunity to introduce his province to representatives from ASEAN Member States. In this regard, he invited the CPR to make a return visit to Lombok.  The CPR on its part expressed appreciation to the Governor for the hospitality extended and updated him on developments in ASEAN
