The 35th Meeting of the Governing Council (GC) of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR) convened on 19 November 2024 at the ASEAN-IPR Secretariat. It was the last Meeting chaired by H.E. Bovonethat Douangchak, Chair and Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to the ASEAN-IPR GC under the Lao PDR’s Chairmanship which will be assumed by Malaysia. During her remarks, H.E Datin Sarah Al Bakri Devadason congratulated Lao PDR for its dedication towards the work of the ASEAN-IPR throughout the year and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to achieve the objectives of the ASEAN-IPR which aims to strengthen research activities on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution. All AMS during their interventions expressed their support to Malaysia in assuming the role of the Chair of the ASEAN-IPR GC.
