On 8 August 2025, the 58th ASEAN Day Celebration was held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. The Honourable Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chair of ASEAN 2025, delivered pre-recorded remarks in line with this year’s theme “Towards Inclusive & Sustainable ASEAN Future”. H.E. Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, delivered the keynote speech.
Malaysia showcased its traditional dance of joget Melayu ; ceracap inai, zapin, joget Pahang and joget Malaysia during the opening and closing of the official ceremony.The celebration featured an ASEAN Food Festival, where Malaysia showcased the local favourites - nasi lemak, roti jala, karipap, kuih sagu gula Melaka, kuih seri muka, and teh tarik. In conjunction with the celebration, H.E. Sarah also delivered opening remarks at the ASEAN-Maybank Scholarship Luncheon, as well as at the Talk Show and Workshop on “Living a Sustainable Life”, highlighting Malaysia’s commitment to inclusivity and sustainability for our shared future.
