The First Meeting of the ASEAN-Germany Development Partnership Committee (AG-DCP) was held on 23 January 2017 at the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) and co-chaired by H.E. Hirubalan VP, Deputy-Secretary General of ASEAN for Political Security and H.E. Michael Baron von Ungern-Sternberg, Ambassador of Germany to ASEAN. The Meeting was attended by all Permanent Representatives of ASEAN and members of their respective delegations, as well as ASEC’s officials. The German delegation comprised officials from the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, GiZ Office Indonesia and Embassy of Germany in Jakarta.
The status of Development Partner was conferred on Germany by the ASEAN Foreign Ministers at their meeting on 24 July 2016 in Vientiane. With this formalisation, the AG-DPC, which comprises members of the ASEAN Secretariat, the Embassy of Germany in Jakarta and the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, will provide the direction and oversee all aspects of development cooperation and capacity building programmes between ASEAN and Germany.
