On 13 March 2025, H.E. Sarah Al Bakri Devadason, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN, chaired the First Meeting of the East Asia Summit Ambassadors to ASEAN in Jakarta (1/2025 EAS Group Meeting). The meeting reviewed the implementation of the EAS Plan of Action 2024-2028, discussed regional development cooperation initiatives and provided updates on preparations for the upcoming EAS Senior Officials’ Meeting. Malaysia also shared its priorities for the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. The meeting was attended by Ambassadors or representatives from EAS Participating Countries, with Timor-Leste joining as an Observer.
