The Honourable Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, undertook an inaugural visit to the ASEAN Secretariat on Tuesday, 29 July 2025. Several key events during the visit include a symbolic tree planting ceremony, the handing over of a Malaysian painting marking the Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025, Interface with His Excellency Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, the Committee of Permanent Representatives and the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to ASEAN and a Policy Speech on ASEAN. The visit reaffirmed Malaysia’s continued commitment as Chair of ASEAN in 2025 to enhancing community-building efforts, promoting regional collaboration and strengthening cooperation among ASEAN Member States and with external parties.
