Amb. Sadik Gany and Mdm. Jakkiah Hj. Basran hosted a reception to commemorate the 54th Anniversary of the Independence Day of Malaysia at Rumah Malaysia on 18 September 2011. Among the 450 guests who came to renew their endorsement of Malaysia’s sovereignty included the Members of Parliament, members of the Diplomatic Corps., Senior Government officials, Academicians, Businessmen, Medias, Friends of Malaysia, MTCP Alumni and students. Amb. Sadik in his speech described Malaysia – Iran relations as warm and friendly. He also alluded to the fact that Malaysia and Iran shared many socio – cultural commonalities. He expressed his pleasure in seeing the positive trend in the translation of friendly political relations into a meaningful economic and trade ties between the two countries. He took the opportunity to apprise the guests on Malaysia’s workable multiculturalism, 1malaysia journey and the Government’s Economic Transformation Programme including the shift towards the services sector based economy. A video clip on Malaysia’s tourism attractions was shown much to the delight of those presence. Malaysian children also proudly displayed their loyalty in singing the tune of the national anthem. The guests were treated to a mix of sumptuous Iranian and Malaysian cuisines including satay specially flown from Malaysia. Upon departures all guests were presented with door gifts courtesy of Tourism Malaysia.
