Thank you to everyone for making “Malaysian Day”, as part of the 23rd Asian Film Festival (AFF) in Rome, a tremendous success, yesterday, 14 April.
Three films by Malaysian directors were showcased: ‘The Waves Will Carry Us’ by Lau Kek Huat, ‘Finding Ramlee’ by Megat Sharizal, and ‘Macai’ by Shanjey Kumar Perumal.
The Embassy was pleased to collaborate with the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) and the AFF for this first-ever Malaysian Day at Cinema Farnese.
The films offered audiences a unique glimpse into Malaysian storytelling, as well as cinematic and artistic expression. Through this initiative, we hope to further introduce Malaysian cinema to a wider audience, strengthen the cultural ties between Malaysia and Italy, and highlight Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
