The Resumed 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP16) is convening in Rome from 25-27 February 2025. The meeting is expected to address a number of outstanding agenda items, including resource mobilisation, the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) monitoring framework, and financial mechanisms; as well as further refining implementation strategies, and strengthening global cooperation on biodiversity conservation.
Malaysia’s delegation is led by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, and comprises of officials from various federal and state ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as the Embassy of Malaysia in Rome.
Malaysia, as one of the 17 Megadiverse Countries that collectively host approximately 70% of the world’s biodiversity, has been actively participating in the CBD COP ever since we became a state party to the CBD in 1994.
