The Ambassador of Thailand Embassy in Italy, as the current Chairman of ASEAN Community in Rome (ACR) hosted the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). It was a simple ceremony which began by H.E. Tana Weskosith, Ambassador of Thailand in Italy delivering a short remark on behalf of the ACR. He reiterated the importance for all ASEAN countries to remain together and practice solidarity. He also highlighted that as members of ASEAN, we need to cherish the work that have been paved by our founding fathers in the last 50 years, in ensuring that ASEAN would remain relevant and important to our region.
Following his speech, all ASEAN Ambassadors and diplomats sang the ‘The ASEAN Way’ anthem and toast to the 50th anniversary of ASEAN. The ASEAN Day celebration is held yearly in Rome, Italy since the inception of ACR in February 2011. As of today, ASEAN countries represented in Italy are Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
