The Embassy celebrated the 67th National Day, 61st Malaysia Day and 91st Malaysian Armed Forces Day at Palazzo Merulana, a modern and contemporary art gallery in Rome on Thursday, 12 September 2024.
The event was graced by The Honourable Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy. In his remarks, he acknowledged Malaysia as one of Asia’s most friendly and tolerant countries and a leading regional economy; affirmed the potential for stronger partnerships in various fields; and expressed Italy’s support for Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025.
In his remarks, Ambassador Dato’ Zahid highlighted the warm and cordial relations between Malaysia and Italy; Malaysia’s strategic position as an excellent investment gateway to ASEAN and other regional markets; and the significance of Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship.
The guests, comprising representatives of the Italian government and armed forces, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, academia, think tanks, and the private sector, enjoyed a mix of Malaysian and Italian delicacies, and a mesmerising vocal performance by Ms. Maya Hanum, a Malaysian singer/songwriter in Italy.
