Amb. Zahid presented his Letter of Appointment as Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and as Malaysia’s representative to the United Nations Specialised Agencies in the Republic of Italy, to the Director-General of the FAO, Dr. Qu Dongyu, at the FAO headquarters on 29 November 2023.
Amb. Zahid renewed Malaysia’s commitment to participate in and support the FAO’s existing initiatives and future work in the face of global food security challenges. He also highlighted the pivotal role of the FAO in providing technical assistance to member states. Amb Zahid and the DG had a fruitful exchange on the importance of Malaysia’s continued active contribution and engagement in the governance of the FAO, to help the organization to fulfill its mandates, and to support member states towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
