Malaysia hosted the monthly ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) on 19 November 2013. Ambassador Datin Paduka Halimah Abdullah hosted the lunch at the Malaysian Residence with the participation of Ambassadors from ASEAN countries as well as the guests of honour. Ambassador Andrea Perugini, Vice Director General of Asia Department and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Michelangelo Pipan, former Italian Ambassador to Thailand were the guests-of-honor during the ACR luncheon.
The luncheon gave an opportunity for the ASEAN Heads of Mission to discuss and exchange information and views on the current Italian foreign policy towards ASEAN and on the possible future cooperation between Italy and ASEAN. It was stressed that Italy should be more proactive in their foreign policy towards South East Asia.
