As part of Italy’s ongoing internal debate and discussions on strengthening its relations with countries and institutions of the Indo-Pacific, the Embassy participated in a Conference organized by Italian Senator Francesco Giacobbe entitled, “Italy and the Indo-Pacific: Prospects and Opportunities”.
Amb Zahid shared the continued importance of the region as the engine of global growth, and the high potential for further cooperation and collaboration on trade, investment, defense, security, as well as tourism and people-to-people exchanges. He also emphasized that a formulation of any strategy for the Indo-Pacific should have the aims of maintaining peace, stability and lowering tensions to allow for free trade, security and prosperity for all, and include the principle ASEAN Centrality.
Also present from the Embassy were Mr Jason Low and Ms. Eleonora Testa, the Embassy's Communication Officer who also provided simultaneous translation for all present at the event.
