Two business forums on green energy and business opportunities in this area in Malaysia were held both in Napoli and Rome, on 22 and 24 April 2013 respectively. The forums were organized by both Napoli Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NCCI) and Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Napoli and also the Italy-Malaysia Friendship Association, Rome (AMICI) with the cooperation and assistance from the Embassy as well as MATRADE and MIDA Offices in Milan. The guest speaker for both forums was Tan Sri Mustapha Mansur, President of Malaysia Green Business Association, who is also the former President of the Federation of Manufacturers Malaysia (FMM). Both MATRADE and MIDA also presented country presentation focusing on trade and investment in Malaysia.
For the forum in Napoli, the event was officiated by the President of NCCI, Mr. Maurizio Maddaloni. About 100 business companies and other private sector enterprises attended the event. They were mainly from the green energy and technology related sectors, in addition to other sectors such as in the manufacturing area.
As to the forum in Rome, the Gestore Servici Energitica (GSE) assisted in providing the venue and other support services. GSE is a state-owned company which promotes and supports the development of renewable energy resources in Italy. In particular, GSE fosters sustainable energy development by providing support for renewable electricity generation and by taking action to build awareness of environmentally-efficient energy uses.

Mr. Maurizio Cuppone, the Deputy President of GSE and also Mr. Andrea Perugini, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italy attended the forum. During his short remarks , Ambassador Perugini emphasized amongst others, the importance of Malaysia and ASEAN region as developing markets especially in the green energy and technology and encouraged Italian private sector to venture into the marketplace for business cooperation as there exist potential business opportunities for Italian entrepreneurs in these markets. About 50 companies attended the business forum in Rome.
The area in green energy that Italy is strong and well-built technology including in biomass, bio-fuel and solar panel manufacturing for the production of solar energy.
