At the Italian Chamber of Deputies today, the Malaysian Honorary Consul in Padua, Dr. Manlio d’Agostino Panebianco, launched his book entitled, “Artificial Intelligence: Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability”. Dato’ Zahid and Ms. Eleonora Testa of the Embassy were present at the event, which was officiated by The Honourable Alberto Luigi Gusmeroli, Chairman of the Lower House Productive Activities, Trade, and Tourism Commission.
As countries address the growth of AI, the discourse taking place in Italy is similar to that taking place in other countries. For Malaysia, the National AI Roadmap 2021-2025 outlines a comprehensive plan for developing and implementing AI technologies in Malaysia and serves as a guide for Malaysia towards becoming a global leader in AI, with a focus on ensuring that the benefits of AI are shared across all sectors of society.
Recent developments in the AI sector for Malaysia include the launch of the National Guidelines on Artificial Intelligence Governance and Ethics (AIGE), the setting-up of a National AI Office, formulating a national cloud policy, and allocations announced in the recent Budget 2025 for research, development, commercialisation and innovation activities, as well as training and re-skilling. Malaysia has also secured technology investments totaling USD16.9 billion for the period up to 2038.
