Malaysia's 51st National Day and Armed Forces Day

Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Charge d'Affaires a.i. and Mrs Amelia Azhar, together with Cpt Sulaiman Mohamad RMN, Defence Attachè and Mrs Nor Aziah Sulaiman, hosted Malaysia's 51st National Day Reception and Armed Forces Day in Rome on 17 September 2008.  Approximately 400 guests turned up for the occasion which comprise officials from the host government (inlcluding Hon. Pieri Fasino, EU Special Representative for Myanmar), members of diplomatic corps and defence attaches, business people, media representatives and Malaysians residing in Italy.  Malaysian food prepared by PERWAKILAN Ladies such as nasi hujan panas, beef rendang, kuaw teoy goreng, ayam goreng, acar rampai, satay, bubur lambok, kuih-muih - karipap, kuih gulung, popia goreng, and kuih lapis were served to the delightful invitees.  A mock Malay wedding ceremony accompanied with pencak silat performed by the Embassy Staff enthralled those present.  FAMA and Perikanan products, i.e. kerepek ubi, keropok ikan, muruku, kuah rojak were put on display and also served.  Before they took leave the guests were given Tourism Malaysia's bag, Malaysia's lapel pin, brochures and batik scarf/handkerchief.
