Presentation of Credentials

Ambassador Ramli Naam presented his Credentials to His Excellency Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Republic of Italy at the Palazzo Quirinale (Presidential Palace) on 21 January 2009 at 1810 hours. He was accompanied by Counsellor and Defense Attaché of the Embassy. On arrival at the Palace, the Ambassador walked past a guard of honour and stopped briefly in front of the Italian flag as a mark of respect. The Chief of Protocol then ushered the Ambassador to the hall where the President was waiting. The Ambassador shook hand with the President before handing over his Credentials and the Letter of Recall of his predecessor to the latter. The President then introduced his staff to the Ambassador. Present were Hon. Gianni Letta, Undersecretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Professor Carlo Guelfi, Director of the Office of the Secretary of the President, Ambassador Rocco Antonio Cangelosi, Diplomatic Advisor to the President and General Rolando Mosca Moschini, Military Advisor to the President. In return, the Ambassador introduced his accompanying officials. The President then invited the Ambassador for an audience with him where both sides discussed common issues of mutual concern. The Ambassador also took the opportunity to extend the greetings from SPB Yang Di-Pertuan Agong to the President. Before the Ambassador took leave, the President wished him all the success in carrying out his duties as the new Ambassador of Malaysia to Italy.
