YB Datuk Doris Sophia Brodie, Deputy Speaker of the Senate led a delegation for a working visit to Italy from 3-7 July 2013. For the visit, Mission arranged a courtesy call on her counterpart Senator Valeria Fedeli, Deputy Speaker of the Italian Senate and a courtesy call on the Honourable Marina Sereni, Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies (Lower House). The delegation was also given a tour of the Senate as well as the Chamber of Deputies.
2. During the delegation’s meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Italian senate, they exchanged pleasantries and each gave a brief explanation of the current political affairs in their country. YB Datuk Doris further explained on the outcome of the recent Malaysian parliamentary elections held in May. The delegation was also allowed to enter and witness a session of the Senate where the Malaysian delegation were introduced by Senator Valeria Fedeli to all Senators present.
3. The delegation also had the opportunity to meet with Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Honourable Marina Sereni and exchanged thoughts and information regarding both countries.
4. At the end of the visit, Ambassador Datin Paduka Halimah Abdullah hosted a Dinner in honour of YB Datuk Doris Sophia Brodie and delegation at the Residence where scrumptious Malaysian dishes were served.
