Dato' Zahid visited the headquarters of the World Halal Authority (WHA) in Milan on 29 November 2024. Accompanied by Mr. Ravidran Manogaran, Director, MATRADE Milan; Ms. Nidyakala Manian, Second Secretary, Embassy of Malaysia in Rome, Mr. Manlio d'Agostino Panebianco, Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Padua, and Ms Beatrice Giovannini, Marketing Officer, MATRADE Milan, a meeting was held with Dr. Mohamed Elkafrawy, CEO, Dr. Basma Farrag, General Manager, and other members of WHA’s senior management.
WHA is an Italian-based independent Halal Certification Authority which is recognised by the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (JAKIM).
The meeting was focused on collaboration with the WHA in the context of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS). It was also part of the efforts undertaken to promote awareness on Malaysian halal standards to the wider Italian and European market.
