Other Consular Information

Issuance of Visa

To obtain Single Entry Visa (SEV), application must attend to submit an application at the Malaysian Embassy. Please note that the consular section office hours are 9.30 am - 12.00 noon to receive applications and related documents and 1.00 p.m. - 3.00 p.m. to collect back the documents.

Hence, applicant should submit the following :

i.   Original passport and valid not less than 6 months;

ii.  Two passport size photographs;

iii.  MyEntry and VDR/EVAL approval letter issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia; 

iv.  Air ticket;

v.  JOD 4.00 as visa fees per visa / per person;

vi.   Visa Application form (IM.47) to be collected at the consular counter ; and

vii.  Process time within 24 hours to 3 working days.

Lost of Travel Documents/Passport Abroad

Report the loss at the nearest Police Station.

Report the loss at the Embassy of Malaysia. Address, telephone number and e-mail is available in the main page of this website. Documents required to be submitted are as follows:

  -  A copy of the police report  
  - Other documents that can be used as proof of citizenship 

An Emergency Certificate will be issued by the Mission which would enable the person to travel home to Malaysia (one way trip).  

Report of Missing Persons

Relative/family/acquaintance may report the missing person at the Embassy of Malaysia:

Among the information required for the report are as follows :
- Complete name of person  
- Place and date of birth 
- Details of the Malaysian Passport 
- Identification Card number 
- Date departed from Malaysia 
- Date of arrival at the particular country 
- Complete address and telephone number at the particular ( if available)  
- Last known address of the place of work (if available) 
- Name and address of family to be contacted in Malaysia 
- Name, address and telephone number of the person making the report / government agency involved  
- Reason for going abroad  
 
The Embassy of Malaysia will investigate the case. The family will be informed of the result of the investigation in due course.

If found, the family will have to bear the cost of bringing the person home (flight ticket & other costs incurred). The money needs to be deposited to the Embassy of Malaysia and a receipt will be issued. 

The family will be informed of the details of arrival. The family will have to wait to receive the person at the airport or other entry points in Malaysia.

Registration of Death

Report death at the nearest Police Station. 
  
Register death at the Embassy of Malaysia. A copy of the police report is required. 
  
Other documents required for the registration are as follows : 

    - Original Passport of the deceased 
    - Original Identification Card / Birth Certificate of the deceased 
    - Copy of the Death Certificate 
    - Copy of the Embalming Certificate 

Repatriation of Remains

For any Malaysian who had passed away in Jordan, their demise needs to be reported as soon as possible to the Embassy of Malaysia. 
 
Information and documents required are as follows:
- Name of the deceased 
- Passport and Identification Card Number 
- Address of the deceased abroad 
- Address in Malaysia 
- Occupation 
- Cause of death 
 
The Embassy of Malaysia will investigate the death. Relative/next of kin of the deceased will need to decide of the place of burial, abroad or in Malaysia.
 

Burial in Malaysia

The Embassy of Malaysia will obtain the estimated cost of the repatriation which will have to be deposited by the relative/next of kin to the Consular Division. A receipt will be issued. Repatriation process will be carried out by the Embassy.

The Consular Division will notify the family on the flight details for the arrival of the remains.

Burial Abroad

The Embassy of Malaysia will coordinate the burial process.

All cost incurred will have to be borne by the relative/next of kin which have to paid to the Consular Division. A receipt will be issued.
 
The Consular Division will submit the following documents to the relative / next of kin:

- Acknowledgment letter from the respective Mission 
- Certificate of health 
- Certificate of Death 
- Certificate of Burial 
- Death Report 
- Copy of Passport / Identification Card (original document will be submitted directly to the respective departments inMalaysia).

Arrest/Detention by Local Authorities

Relative/family/acquaintance may make a written report about the arrested/detained person at the Embassy of Malaysia:

 Among the information required for the report are as follows:
- Name of the arrested/detained person 
- Passport and Identification Card number 
- Date and place of arrest/detained 
- Telephone number of place of arrest/detained 
- Cause of arrest/detention 
 
The Embassy of Malaysia will  investigate the case. The family will be notified of result of the investigation. 

If the family requires legal assistance or need to visit the arrested/detained person, an application will need to be submitted to the Embassy of Malaysia.

All cost incurred will be borne by the family. 

After completion of sentence (if found guilty), the person will be deported back to Malaysia. The cost of deportation will be borne by the family:

- Deposit the required amount to the Malaysian Mission. A receipt will be issued.  

- The family will be informed of the details of arrival. The family will have to wait to receive the person at the airport or other entry points in Malaysia.

Registration of Absent Voters

Registration of voters for Malaysians abroad is divided into 2 categories:

 - Postal Voters / Absent Voters consists of : 
  i)      Armed Forces who are in service  
  ii)     Spouses to (i)
  iii)     Government personnel (Federal Government, States Service or Local        Authorities) who are in service abroad 
  iv)  Spouses to (iii) 
  v)  Individuals studying full time in Universities, Technical Colleges, Training Institutions or other bodies abroad (only if they are sponsored by the Government) 
  vi)  Spouses to (v). 
 
 -  Normal Voters  
  Malaysian other than the above 

Embassy of Malaysia will make the announcement for the registration and checking of the voting list.

- Identification document that confirms the applicant's citizenship 
- Identification Card  
- Passport  
- 3 passport size photograph  
 
For the election, normal voters need to return to Malaysia to cast their votes based on the area they have registered in. For postal voters, casting of votes are made by post.

Notarial Functions

Service charge is JOD 1.00 per signature.
