11 October 2023 – After the 3 years of COVID19 pandemic hiatus, the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo organised the 66th National Day of Malaysia Reception at the Four Seasons Hotel, Otemachi, Tokyo. The event was attended by H.E. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, as the representative of the host government and the event’s Guest of Honour. H.E. ARIMURA Haruko, Secretary General of Japan-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Association, and Vice Chairperson of Japan-Malaysia Association (JMA) was also present where she offered a celebrative toast along with H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan and H.E. HORII Iwao.
The event was enlivened with cultural performances by children of PERWAKILAN’s Kelas Bimbingan Malaysia (KBM) and youth Japanese performers Manjushaka. About 300 guests attended the reception and were served with a variety of international and Malaysian delicacies including the famous Malay sticky rice “Pulut Kuning” with Rendang Daging, Nasi Goreng Kampung, Mee Goreng, Karipap, as well as Apam. Award-winning Chef Safura Mohd Tawil was also featured at the event where she demonstrated the preparation of Roti Jala and Chicken Curry.
