24 April 2025 – As part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to promote Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, a lecture session was held at Saitama University in collaboration with the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC). The event aimed to enhance awareness among Japanese and international students about ASEAN’s regional priorities and Malaysia’s leadership in shaping the organisation’s direction.

Mr. Anwar Udzir, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy, delivered a lecture titled "Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025: Inclusivity and Sustainability." He outlined Malaysia’s vision and goals, emphasising regional integration, sustainable development, and inclusive growth. Mr. Anwar also highlighted Malaysia’s commitment to ASEAN centrality and strengthening partnerships, particularly with Japan.

The session was attended by over 50 students and featured a dynamic Q&A segment, where students engaged with the key themes of the lecture. Several participants also shared their own reflections on ASEAN’s role in promoting regional peace and cooperation. The event successfully fostered a deeper understanding of Malaysia’s chairmanship agenda and inspired greater youth engagement with ASEAN’s future.
