A special warning and alert had been issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency on 8 July 2014 following the approaching of Typhoon Neoguri currently heading north towards Okinawa’s Miyako Island at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour with winds of up to 180 kph and gusts as strong as 252 kphA. Heavy rains and strong winds are expected across the region including the southern part of Kyushu Island.
In this regard, the Embassy would like to advise Malaysians resident and/or Malaysian tourists in Okinawa and the surrounding affected areas to always be careful and remain alert to any directives issued by the relevant Japanese authorities from time to time concerning the safety and security alert in their respective areas.
