On 10 May 2014, ACT Family Day 2014 was held at Kasai Rinkai Park, Tokyo. As in previous years, the event gathered diplomatic officials along with their families and locally recruited staff from all the ten ASEAN Member States. HE Datuk Shaharuddin Md Som, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan accompanied by YBhg Datin Norasikin Hashim and other home based staff and their family members participated in the event.
The ACT Family Day was officiated by the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam as the current Chairman of the ACT in Tokyo and host of the event. It was subsequently followed by the event’s highlight, the outdoor games which were organized to cater for both children and adults. The outdoor games among others include lawn bowling, egg and spoon race, sack race and balloon stomp. Following the conclusion of the games, the Ambassadors and other invited guests were then invited to enjoy food and beverage prepared by various ASEAN countries. The Malaysian side prepared nasi lemak, rendang, fried noodles and bihun as well as traditional delicacies such as kuih lopes, karipap and kuih seri muka for the event.
The event ended with prize giving ceremony for all the winners of the various games presented alternately by all the ASEAN Ambassadors. The annual event met its objective in fostering close ties and camaraderie among ASEAN member countries.
