27 June 2025 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Japan, led by H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, participated in the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Golf Tournament hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy in Japan. This annual event brought together members of the diplomatic corps and the business community from both ASEAN countries and Japan, fostering camaraderie and strengthening regional ties through sports diplomacy.
In the spirit of friendly competition, Dato’ Shahril emerged as first runner-up in the Ambassador’s Category. The Embassy’s team, comprising Mr. Radzween Abd Razak (Minister-Counsellor), Captain Wan Baderul Hisan Wan Muda (Defence Attaché), Mr. Zahile Ismail (Agriculture Counsellor), Mr. Azrim Zamri (Second Secretary), as well representatives from the Japan Graduates Association of Malaysia (JAGAM), featuring Datuk Steven Tan Ozeki, Mr. Y.C. Lee and Mr. Y. Narita also performed admirably, securing the position of second runner-up in the Team Category.
The tournament concluded with a prize-giving ceremony and a reception, providing an excellent platform for networking and informal exchanges among ASEAN missions and Japanese counterparts. The Embassy’s strong showing in the tournament not only reflected the spirit of teamwork and collaboration but also reinforced Malaysia’s active role within the ACT framework.
