21 March 2024 – H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, attended a working Iftar organised by the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) at the Official Residence of the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan. During the event, H.E. Dato’ Ambassador together with other ASEAN representatives were briefed by H.E. Justin HAYHURST, Ambassador of Australia to Japan on the outcomes of the recent ASEAN-Australia Special Summit. The Special Summit was held from 4 to 6 March 2024 in Melbourne, Australia, in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations.
The briefing among others, touched on the Melbourne Declaration (Joint Leaders’ Declaration) and Leaders’ Vision Statement which were announced during the Special Summit covering a wide areas of cooperation such as economy, socio-culture, climate and clean energy, as well as maritime.
