The ASEAN Festival jointly organised by the ASEAN Festival Executive Committee and ASEAN Japan-Centre (AJC) was held at the Yoyogi Park, Tokyo on 14-15 June 2014. The objective of the Festival was to foster greater appreciation of ASEAN cultural diversity as well as strengthening the close friendship between ASEAN and Japan. The variety of traditional ASEAN dishes, colourful cultural performances and impressive display of arts and crafts have attracted a large crowd, comprising locals and foreigners including Malaysians from all over Tokyo.

The open-air concept event featured nearly 60 booths allocated for the licensed ASEAN restaurants and retailers in Tokyo, including 10 booths which were provided for all the ASEAN Embassies. The Embassy participated in the event by showcasing Malaysian handicraft and delicacies. Pamphlets and brochures were also distributed during the event to further promote Malaysia in conjunction with “Visit Malaysia Year 2014”. This event among others, has served as a platform to promote Malaysia as an attractive travel destination.
