15 February 2025 – The Embassy of Malaysia in Japan, in collaboration with the Japan Graduates' Association of Malaysia (JAGAM-Japan Branch), hosted a Chinese New Year 2025 Reception at the Embassy. The event was attended by more than 150 Malaysians, including students and members of the Malaysian community in Japan.
In his remarks, H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, commended the strong collaboration between the Embassy and JAGAM in fostering a sense of community among Malaysians abroad. He highlighted the significance of the Year of the Wood Snake, which symbolizes rebirth, good fortune, and the pursuit of love and happiness.
The vibrant lion dance performance by the Tangshan Dragon and Lion Association, added to the festive atmosphere. A traditional Yee Sang tossing ceremony, led by the Ambassador, brought together attendees in the spirit of unity and prosperity. Guests were also treated to an array of traditional Chinese delicacies, reflecting Malaysia’s rich multicultural heritage.
The event provided an opportunity for Malaysians in Japan to reconnect, strengthen ties, and celebrate the festive season together.
