29 January 2024 – H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, received a delegation headed by Mr. Furuya Masato, Executive Vice President of Japan Foundation. Mr. Furuya was also accompanied by Mr. Horikawa Koichi, Director of International Operations and Ms. Miyashita Hanna, Senior Officer of the Regional Strategies Division of the foundation.
During the call, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ expressed his warmest congratulations for the appointment of Mr. Furuya as the Executive Vice President of the Japan Foundation. He commended the Japan Foundation’s important role in Japan’s soft power diplomacy particularly in promoting the stability and prosperity of the region.
Mr. Furuya briefed the Ambassador on the “Partnership to Co-create a Future with the Next Generation: WA Project 2.0” which is a 10-year programme as announced by Prime Minister Kishida during the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit, held in December last year. The programme aimed to facilitate stronger collaboration between ASEAN and Japan particularly in people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
