26 September 2023 – H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, received a courtesy call by the Special Select Committee (SSC) on Infrastructure, Transportation, and Communication led by H.E. Ir. Yusuf bin Abd Wahab, Chairman of the SSC. Chairman Yusuf was accompanied by H.E. Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong, H.E. Datuk Wan Saifulruddin bin Wan Jan, H.E. Ts. Zahir bin Hassan, H.E. Ir. Ts. Hj. Khairil Nizam bin Khirudin, H.E. Ganabatirau a/l Veraman, H.E. Datuk Matbali bin Musah, as well as secretariat from the House of Representatives, Parliament of Malaysia.
The SSC on Infrastructure Transportation, and Communication was on its working visit to Tokyo from 25 to 30 September 2023. The purpose of the visit is to learn best practices from Japan to improve the efficiency of the SSC in implementing check and balance function on issues related to infrastructure, transportation, and communication.
The SSC is responsible for examining bills, proposals, reports any matter related to infrastructure, transport, and communication under the purview of Ministry of Public Works (KKR), Ministry of Transport (MOT), Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD), Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) as well as other related agencies.
