7 June 2023 – H.E. Senator Dr Wan Martina binti Wan Yusoff, Vice Chairman of the Special Select Committee on Sociocultural, Communication and Education, Parliament of Malaysia (JKPK SKOP) paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr Yana Kazuo, State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) at the latter’s office. H.E. Senator Dr Wan Martina was accompanied by Mr. Anwar Udzir, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo as well as members of JKPK SKOP - H.E. Sen. Datuk Lim Pay Hen, H.E. Sen. Ms Rita Sarimah Patrick Insol and H.E. Sen. Mr Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah.
During the call, H.E. Mr Yana Kazuo highlighted the ongoing cooperation between Japan and Malaysia in the field of education. As of today, more than 26,000 students from Malaysia were enrolled in various higher learning institutions in Japan. H.E. Senator Dr Wan Martina explained that Malaysia is interested to learn the best practice from Japan in developing graduates in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) programme. During their visit to MEXT, the delegation also had a chance to be briefed by the officials of the Ministry on technical and vocational education system in Japan in a separate session.
